We are not a cynical society.
We hold out hope (when others see none) and believe in something greater than ourselves.
We want to be inspired. We want to participate.
But we weren’t taught to be citizens. We were conditioned to be “in the audience”, to be passive viewers of history – rather than agents of change for it.
We have become inactive participants in our own lives. We watch without conscience as the images of events stream by us in real time.
In the end, we are willing victims at the hands of our own apathy.
How do we “the passive viewer” become involved in our own destiny? What message will move us to act – to become a citizen again?
